Scott Lawson is an experienced trial lawyer and business litigator. He has represented corporations and individuals for over 25 years in a wide variety of litigation matters. He has a broad range of substantive knowledge, with specialties in employment, trade-secret, employee-movement, contracts, unfair competition, defamation, fraud, and privacy. He currently serves as the Chair of the Litigation Section of the Bar Association of San Francisco.
Mr. Lawson represents clients in state and federal court, in corporate investigations, and in arbitration proceedings. In addition, he advises companies regarding employment practices, regulatory compliance, and other litigation-avoidance counseling. Mr. Lawson has also successfully argued before state and federal appellate panels.
Mr. Lawson has numerous trial and arbitration wins for clients in a variety of business areas, including banking and finance, high tech, aerospace, venture capital, defense contracting, commercial security, healthcare, entertainment and business consulting. In addition, he has a long track record of obtaining dismissal of claims before trial. A seasoned negotiator, Mr. Lawson’s reputation as a tenacious litigator who is willing to try difficult cases allows him to obtain more favorable settlement terms for his clients.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Lawson was a litigation partner at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan for ten years. He also was previously a partner at Greenberg Traurig, and an associate at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. Mr. Lawson has been peer rated “Preeminent” (5 out of 5) by Martindale Hubbell. He has repeatedly been named a Northern California “Super Lawyer” and was named one of Northern California’s top appellate lawyers by Bay Area Lawyer Magazine.
